Oy

My blog has been neglected. I thought summer and the long, warm, relaxing days that come along with it would leave me plenty of time to catch up on everything around here. Ha! I feel like I’ve been working double time, yet not updating here at all! That all will change. I have SO much to update, that I’ve decided to give myself a little challenge. I am going to blog once a day FOR THE REST OF THE SUMMER!

Yikes. I can’t believe I just typed that.

If you catch the blog with no updates from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m on one calendar day and you are the first to email me at

samantha@samanthauphold.com

you will get a complimentary session!

I need to get my butt in gear and give the blog the love it deserves, so here it begins. And not to fret, for those of you that don’t think you’re up for the challenge of catching me slacking off….I’ll have at least 2 special offers in the next couple of weeks! Stay tuned!

And now, for one old image that I’m not sure if I ever shared…

Here is the location for our new home! We closed on this last year, and we have a little while before we are ready to build, but it is truly perfect. Finding this land and being approved to build on it with my family was one of the happiest moments of my life. 11 acres + a little creek + a small area of woods = Uphold Happiness

land

And, lastly – a little snippet from one of my favorite things.

” I wish I knew what this means but I wish that about a lot of things so mostly I enjoy not knowing.” ~storypeople

Eeeee!!!!

My very first ad ran this week! I know the blog has been neglected, but the week has been insane! I’ve just recently started a new commercial project for a local United Way branch and it, along with regular client sessions, has been keeping me more than busy. Thursday I was able to pick up the copies of my very first ad in the incredibly slick magazine for Northwest Indiana Parents – Children’s Essentials. Click on the link to subscribe today! It’s a fantastic resource for local parents, and best of all it’s FREE!!!!

As you can see, Butterfly Kisses and I decided to join ads. I think the results are lovely! If you are an expectant mom, or know someone who is, don’t hesitate to contact me about the maternity/newborn special! Although my calendar books up quickly, and sometimes months in advance, I always have room to squeeze in newborn clients. Please call while you are still pregnant to book!! That ensures I will pad my schedule enough to fit in the unpredictability that comes with newborn arrivals.

I was fortunate enough to have my very first photograph featured in this magazine, as well! I so love this photo, and I was equally as excited to learn in would be featured in the C.H.O.I.C.E.S article. Click on the link to learn more about this wonderful, local group.

Angel

I stayed up late last night trying to narrow down the images from the amazing beach session.  I’m still trying to do my best to narrow them down – there are SO many!!  This one may just be my new favorite image.  I plan on taking mom up on her offer to come up and hang out in the city with them – Mom, you know we are going to have to scout out the perfect place for this on the wall.   I had SUCH a great time yesterday!  Thanks for heading out to the Dunes for the session.  It was so great seeing you three again!!

I just had such a fantastic session tonight at the beach.  I don’t know how I’m ever going to narrow the choices down!  Be on the look out for those previews.  I got to use my killer new prop – these insanely gorgeous angel wings!!

Life is Good

I woke up this morning, to a good friend knocking on my door at 6:15, keeping me honest on yesterday’s promise of “Yes, I’ll totally get up at 6:00 to go walking!!”. Well, I wasn’t exactly awake and ready, but we did make it out the door by 6:30 and enjoyed a beautiful morning walk. Wendy, thank you for not even batting an eye or seeming the least bit upset that I wasn’t awake and ready. I love you for being so forgiving!!

Then, I came home and worked on a surprise for a client. I really like surprising my clients with unexpected goodies. It makes my job even more fun than it is already! Before I knew it, it was 9:00 and time for OPRAH!! I love summertime, when I’m able to kick back and watch a little Oprah in the mornings. Well, this morning Oprah opened the floodgates as she interviewed Randy Pausch. I’m familiar with his story, as a few months ago, I watched his “final lecture” on YouTube. I laughed, I cried, I was moved and incredibly inspired. If you have an extra hour, or even if you don’t….watch his last lecture. I was captivated for the entire hour or so (yes, hour…it’s worth every minute). I’ll let you watch the video of his lecture to hear his story, instead of me recapping it. His speaking and his story really remind me of how wonderful and precious life is – and how we need to recognize that on a daily basis. He speaks a lot about finding your passion, and that is something I am grateful for on a daily basis. I have two professions that I am utterly over the moon passionate about. Who could ask for more? I’m getting paid to go take pictures at the beach tonight of a wonderful mother and daughter who have become repeat clients and friends. Life is good.

And then…..after all the tears the show evoked….The View comes on. I’m not a huge fan of the view, but….. Guess who was on the show today? Bret Michaels. Oh yeah….life is good! hehe

Life is ESPECIALLY good when you have a husband like mine, who created the most user friendly, pretty garden in the world – because we both hate to pull weeds!!  We spent the other evening creating and planting our overhauled garden area!  I love it!!
